I’m back stateside after a magical time at the Civitella Ranieri artist residency, followed by over a week of travel with my family.
Shortly after my return, I sat down with Chris Richards of the Washington Post for a conversation about On Separation, what makes a sound a musical object, creative pasts, and potential futures. Super humbled and thrilled with his reflection of our conversation and my music.
There are still some physical tapes available via Bandcamp, as well as Sound Ohm and All Night Flight if you’re in Europe and want to avoid high shipping costs. Of course, digital has ~infinite~ stock and always available.
Last Sunday, I joined Shane Parish and Regan Bowering at Rhizome to present some newish ideas. I’ll recapitulate and extend on July 13th alongside Eric Frye and Michael Masaru Flora
Sunday July 13 * 7pm * $15-25 * TICKETS
I will have another show at Rhizome in August (announcement coming soon) and will then head to ZAP Outdoorz Labor Day weekend for an extended live set, alongside an incredible lineup of bands, performers, and DJS. Very, very stoked to be performing at this festival
I generally do not teach in the summer and am therefore spending a lot of time* listening, gardening, reading, and making shrubs. The Quiet Sun by Sarah Hennies and Tristan Kasten-Krause is an incredible album for dedicated listening, while Beck’s Modern Guilt from 2008 has been providing the soundtrack for my weeding. I judged many books by their covers when choosing what to read from the Civitella library, and by far my favorite pick for the words was Anne Enright’s The Wren, the Wren.
